The projector is really big. When I am not mistaking this is a Barco and it is huge, espacially for a room that is also used for other things than just home theatre. Like my own living room. I am using the Hitachi PJ-TX200, it's really quite and just small. But it is not a CRT (Barco) but a LCD projector.

In that second photo you mention, the projector certainly looks like a honkin' big one, but you don't know where the camera was positioned. It may have been right behind the projector, which would make the projector look quite a bit bigger than it might if you were actually standing in the room. In any case, that one does look like a very nice setup.

Thanks Mike! You had me confused there for a minute, because a friend of mine, also named Mike, just finished his basement with a home theater area with control light, just like you mentioned.

It's only once I saw your link that I figured out you were a different Mike. I've been enjoying your site, keep up the good work!

I completely agree with you that home theater room should be multipurpose. A bit darkish but no rows of seats. My take is to make it a living room with possibility to control light rather than a separate area where you go to watch movies.
By the way,Henning - congrats on the "grand opening" of HTBlog.
Cheers,
