Anthem’s Statement D2 Pre/Pro Shipping
We’ve been waiting a long time for Anthem to ship their D2 processor, and that day has finally arrived!
This thing is a beast! Its primary focus is sound quality - you can get lots of the same bells and whistles in their AVM line of processors. But man these features are nice! Take a look. It’s got four HDMI inputs, video transcoding to component and HDMI outputs, a scaler that supports up to 1080p resolution, aspect ratio conversion, and more.
If I had the money to buy any processor I wanted, my choice would be between this one and Lexicon’s MC12B.

Wow, I just spotted the QuickNews link to the JVC digital amplification receiver. I just about fell over - a revolution has occurred in hi-fi audio and I completely missed it! Analog amplification is now the old way, which means a pre/pro such as Anthem’s (or Lexicon’s), with only analog audio outputs, is already out of date. Digital amplification sounds to be better and cheaper than just about any analog amplifier. Is it time to sell off the analog gear, switch to digital, and pocket the difference? How long will it be possible to do that before absolutely no one will buy used analog equipment? And has anyone listened to one of these digital amplifiers, and are they really that good?

From what I understand, it’s really hard to get digital amplifiers to sound right. H/K has a digital amplified receiver. Linn is big into Class D amps too.
